Our client purchased 2 very unique properties on the Wirral and turned them into 1 to create his perfect home. Located within a conservation areas these houses where originally built to look much older than they actually are. This has been achieved with the careful selection of natural materials such as wood and clay and build with traditional detailing such as the round brick windows, timber shiplap cladding and windows featuring Georgian bars.
As part of joining the two homes together the home owner decided to add a modern style orangery at the rear of the home, creating a large light filled space ideal for relaxing while listening to music or reading books. The large orangery features oversized bifold doors and modern roof lantern that add a real visual wow factor to the space.
Throughout the original building Rationel windows and doors have been installed as they are manufactured from timber with an aluminium capping and therefore have a very similar look to the original windows however require much less maintenance. To the front of the property the homeowner choose a brown coloured window as this fits in well with the conservation area it is surrounded by. To the rear of the property an anthracite grey has been used which gives a modern touch to this traditional styled home.
Overall the project has rejuvenated the exterior of the property and greatly improved the energy efficiency of the home. The homeowner has commented o how much warmer the house in since having the new windows fitted.
