As part of the renovation to this historical home we supplied a full scheme of windows and doors throughout. Looking to keep the appearance and style of the building as close to the original as possible, we supplied an aluminium heritage window with a black frame and white sash. Our aluminium heritage windows are a close replica for steel windows with the added benefit of a thicker frame enabling us to include a thermal break for improved energy efficiency, the windows also allow the use of a standard sized double glazed giving A+ energy efficiency within the glass panel itself.
We also supplied a number of doors including several sets of steel alternative aluminium French doors, used within the upstairs bedrooms these are a great option for allowing more light to enter the building and also make the most of the fantastic views of the river dee. Downstairs we supplied two Knight Line sliding doors adding a modern twist to this otherwise traditional exterior, giving a clue to the updated and renovated interior.
The sliding doors have been installed within the main hub of the home, the open plan living area featuring kitchen, dining and a beautiful living space. The sliding doors bring in more light than the original doors as they feature much larger panes of glass and minimal sightlines. They also maximise on views and create a seamless flow with the outdoor space.
The finished result is a great example of a traditional property refurbishment done right. The updates and modernisations throughout our sympathetic to the original design of the home whilst updating the thermal and sound properties of the home to ensure it feels like a modern home functionally.
