Rationel Conservatory, Wirral

Rationel Conservatory Replacement

After purchasing their new home, our clients were certain they would need to do something with the old conservatory at the rear of the property. In a poor state with lots of rot, draughty windows and a polycarbonate roof that had seen better days, the original timber conservatory was a real cold spot in the house and with the leaky roof and windows it was a completely unusable space. After looking into multiple options, it was clear that the best solution was to keep the original conservatory base and replace the roof, windows and doors with brand new units.

After a design meeting with our clients, we established that it was important that timber windows and doors were used on this project to remain consistent with all of the other windows and doors in the rest of the house. After looking at multiple options, our clients chose to go with Rationel alu-clad timber windows, which offer the tactile look and feel of timber internally.  Externally, the aluminium capping offers excellent protection throughout the UK winters ensuring the product will outlast standard timber windows and be virtually maintenance free. All windows and doors were supplied in a custom colour (internally pebble grey RAL7032 and externally concrete grey RAL7023) as this is the colour that the other windows will be painted once the full refurbishment is complete, providing a seamless look between the new and existing windows.

The windows and doors supplied were from the Rationel Aldus Slimline range which have a U-value of 0.91W/m2k.  The roof was supplied via another company who worked closely with us to ensure everything was coordinated for delivered and installed on time ensuring the project ran smoothly for our client.  Making use of the original base was a great cost effective solution for our client and the conservatory is now a fully functional space again, improving the value of their home. The overall energy efficiency of the conservatory has been vastly improved as well as the sound reduction making the conservatory a room that is usable all year round.
