Planning a complete renovation of this detached bungalow in Criccieth, Wales, our client wanted to modernise both the exterior and interior of the property and create a large family living space with access to the garden via bi-folding doors. With a plan to install brand new grey windows and doors to contrast with the white painted render on the property, when our client looked around at the grey UPVC units on offer they were not satisfied with the look of the grey foils available on UPVC windows. After looking around on the internet and reading about alu-clad windows on our website, they decided a visit to our Heswall showroom was a must. Impressed with the powder coated finish of the aluminium capping externally and the internal finish of the wooden core, they decided to go with Rationel alu-clad timber windows throughout the property, with a front door from Rationel and a set of aluminium bi-fold doors from Centor to make the most of the outdoor living space.
A dark grey colour was chosen which was applied to all windows and doors externally, with stainless steel window and door furniture blending the different products together to create a uniform look throughout the installation. The windows and entrance door are from our Slimline range from Rationel, a perfect solution as replacements for traditional UPVC units as the windows frames are only 70mm deep, making them a straightforward replacement reducing the time taken on installation and therefore reducing labour costs. Although these windows are only double glazed units they achieve an impressive overall U value of 0.91 W/m2K benefiting the overall building by allow more sunlight in and less heat out, perfect for our client's comfort.
