Passionate about their home's heritage, the owners were looking to upgrade their rotten timber windows with something more efficient but were keen to ensure that the property's original styling and charm was not lost. The property features many character features, such as the brick dentils, clay roof, timber porch, and more. The original timber windows play a big part in the home's overall aesthetic, and being set within a conservation area, it is a vital detail to get right.
After much research, the homeowners decided on our Evolution timber alternative windows. We believe these to be the best timber alternative windows in terms of how closely they replicate the look of timber and also the overall build quality of the windows.
The home features multiple large and unique bay windows, including both square and rounded bays. With so much real estate taken up with windows, this further solidified the importance of getting the windows looking right. Not only have the sashes and window frames of our Evolution window range gone through extensive development, plus the bay posts and corners have also been developed to replicate timber bays closely, making the Evolution window range the complete package.
For this property, we supplied a range of flush timber alternative windows with additional details such as lead lighting, hidden trickle vents, timber-look joints, triple glazing and corner posts, enabling us to design a timber alternative window that was almost identical in detail to the original timber, with one neighbour commenting “I really can't tell if they are or aren’t timber”.
The finished result is an enhanced family home that is warmer and quieter whilst staying true to its original design and maintaining local architectural interest for many years to come. Not only is the house now more comfortable and suitable for modern-day living, but the new timber alternative windows are much less maintenance-intensive than the original timber windows and only require regular washing as opposed to the painting schedule required on original timber windows.
