Sometimes, there is no alternative to timber, and when a property like this has such beautiful features, the choice to opt for timber is easy. Featuring a range of unique timber windows and doors, manufacturing and installing a curved bay window was no easy feat.
Working closely with the homeowner, we designed and installed timber windows and doors from our Knight Collection range. For the windows, we supplied several flush timber windows to match the original, however with some enhancements including larger glass panes, double glazing and a 5 stage paint process. Butt joins, astragal bars, deep cills, and correctly proportioned frames are just some of the features that make timber windows so unique.
One of the stand-out features of the home is the curved bay window featuring a bespoke one-off large rounded cill. The unique window makes an internal and external impression, adding a large amount of character to the property. With so many panes of glass, the window fills the internal space with lots of light. Internally, the windows feature an ogee bead and monkey tail handles, both adding to the original look and feel of the home. Internally, we finished the windows with new timber cladding, which has been left for the homeowners to finish.
We also installed several flush timber windows throughout the rest of the home, including a square bay and several other individual timber windows. All windows were supplied in a consistent style to tie in with the original design of the building.
To the rear of the home, we replaced an existing set of French doors with a large heritage-style aluminium black screen. This was the perfect option for opening up the home as it is both in keeping with the property's age and style and also a very much in-vogue product of the moment. The finished result is a light-filled, brighter and warmer space year-round.
Overall, the new windows have enhanced the look of the home without losing its original charm and character. One of the biggest differences is increased light flow thanks to the slimmer frames. In addition, the security and energy efficiency of the home have been enhanced as the new products feature modern double glazing, thicker frames, and more secure locking systems.
