Agate Grey Flush Windows

With a tonne of character both inside and out, Christmas Cottage was one that we where excited to be involved in. The perfect building for our Agate Grey flush timber alternative windows range, this is everything you think of when you hear the words “English Cottage”. With loads of original features, a modernised but sympathetic interior and lots of unusual angles, not to mention the stunning courtyard a perfect resting place for an afternoon tea.

We worked with the homeowners to put together a scheme of timber alternative windows and doors to compliment this beautiful cottage within a conservation area. Throughout we installed flush Knight Collection windows and several sets of Storm-proof doors. The agate grey windows work in perfect harmony with the white render giving just the right amount of contrast without effecting the style and character of the building.

All windows and doors where finished in the same colour Agate Grey externally and White internally with a wood grain foil finish. Traditional hardware was used throughout including the monkey tail handles and peg stays. The hardware is given an aged look to imitate the look and feel of cast iron which was commonly used on older stone cottages.

The windows and doors feature particular detailing which is not commonly found on most UPVC windows. These include mechanical butt joins, slim mullions, deep cills, flush sash, timber effect finish and a chamfered frame. All of these details are what make these windows a much more realistic imitation of timber and why they are called timber alternative as apposed to UPVC.

At the front of the property we installed a timber alternative entrance door, a set of storm-proof French doors, several flush windows and one really beautiful circular window.

To the rear of the home we installed a set of French doors with an apex window above and picture windows to either side flooding the rear extension with light. An area the homeowners love to spend time throughout the day due to it being somewhat of a sun trap throughout the day and with easy access to the matured courtyard.

The new windows sit perfectly within this picturesque conservation area whilst giving the home owners a lower maintenance installation, enhanced energy efficiency and a fresh look. The windows have made a huge difference to the home year round particularly when compared to the original single glazed windows that where originally installed. Not only will energy bills be reduced but the overall comfort and reduced maintenance will make life a lot easier and more comfortable.
